Richard Ward is one of my mentor for the summer. He is a part of the Computational Sciences and Engineering Division. He received his degrees in physics from the University of California, Riverside. His previous work at ORNL has included the Virtual Soldier Project. Right now, he is working on a collaborative project with scientists at St. Jude's Children Research Hospital studying neuron migration.

My other mentor is Ryan Kerekes from the Measurement Science and Systems Engineering Division. He received his undergraduate degree in Computer Engineering from the University of Tennessee in Knoxville. He continued his studies in Computer and Electrical Engineering at Carnegie Mellon University. He is a part of the Image Science and Machine Vision Group at ORNL. His primary research interests are in image analysis and computer vision for biomedical, defense, and national security applications. Previously, Ryan has worked on developing a 3-D roadside vehicle tracking system. The project he is working on now is studying and characterizing neuron morphology and migration. Ryan is involved with automating the process.
